Chemotherapy is the use of toxic drugs for the purpose of killing cancer cells.  There are over 50 different drugs, and often some are used in combination with others. The problem is that healthy cells are also damaged by the drugs.  However, the philosophy is that healthy cells can recover from the damage, while cancer cells cannot. Kill the cancer cells, then give normal cells a couple of weeks to recover; repeat as necessary. And, there are unpleasant side-effects including loss of hair and nausea; the drugs make you sick.
