Radiation Therapy (also known as radiotherapy) is the use of high-energy radiation to treat cancer by killing cancer cells, but it also kills normal cells, and there are risks of nausea, anemia, vomiting, hair loss, diarrhea, skin burn, fatigue, sterility, and death. The suggested approach of this site is the more gentle approach from Alternative Medicine, of natural herbal cures ellagic acid, graviola, and essiac, and electromedicine therapies from Lakhovsky, Beck, and Rife. Avoid the dangers of radiation therapy.
The purpose of radiation therapy is to shrink localized tumors, not cancers that have spread to other parts of the body. Radiation kills cancer cells and normal cells, but normal cells are more able to repair damage than cancer cells. Radiation treatments are spread out over weeks to give normal cells a chance to recover. Radiation is often used in conjunction with other therapies such as chemotherapy or surgery, especially when surgery cannot remove tissue without damaging surrounding organs. Radiation can be delivered by radioactive implants to localized areas such as cobalt therapy, or from a beam external to the body which can damage tissue on its way to the tumor. Different types of radiation are used, including high energy x-ray therapy, electron beam therapy, and gamma rays, proton rays, and neutron rays.
