Bladder tumors are masses or growths in the bladder, an organ in the pelvis that stores urine. The urine comes from the kidneys via the ureters, and is expelled out the bladder through the urethra. If the tumor is capable of spreading (i.e. metastasizing), it is said to be malignant and is a cancer. Bladder cancer is responsible for 90% of cancers in the urinary tract. Half of all cancers occur in people over the age of 70, and rare in people under 40; men get it over twice as much as women.

Bladder Cancer Symptoms
The symptoms of bladder cancer are not specific, and may be due to other diseases. The primary symptom is hematuria, or blood in the urine that may appear red or brown. It may be visible to the naked eye, or only visible under a microscope. It is usually painless, and may come and go.

Other symptoms include:

• Pain or burning during urination.
• More frequent urination or shorter intervals.
• A feeling of incomplete urination.

Causes
