Whether heartburn or colon cancer symptoms, proper nutrition is necessary. Eat foods according to your type, eat Superfoods and essential foods, avoid dangerous foods, combine them properly (don't get gas), don't destroy the food before you eat it, and don't follow the government's Food Guide Pyramid; it is corrupted.

 


What should you eat?

Answer: Unadulterated fresh food compatible with your constitution, that is alkaline reacting, that contains all the essential nutrients.

Disease will be caused when you eat that which is not food, that which is not appropriate to your body type, that which is adulterated, that which is toxic, that which is deficient in an essential nutrient, or a diet that is acid reacting, over a long period of time.

Finally we can answer the question: "What is the best diet?" The China Study by T. Colin Campbell describes the most comprehensive study ever conducted, that went on for 30 years, involved 2,400 Chinese counties and 880 million Chinese citizens, and produced over 8,000 statistically significant correlations between diet and disease. The conclusion of the book:

"Eat a whole foods, plant-based diet, while minimizing the consumption of refined foods, added salt and added fats." Eliminate all animal-based products, but don't obsess over it. If a dish contains a small amount of meat, the quantity very likely will be nutritionally unimportant. Benefits were shown to increase as meat consumption decreased, even when the percentage declined from 10% to 0%.

If eliminating meat from your diet is unimaginable, start by adding more vegetables, legumes, and grains to your meals and they will gradually replace the meat. Once you are off of meat for 3 weeks, you will find that you have lost the taste or habit of them.

What are the essential nutrients?

You need to consume these; your body does not manufacture them, and they should be consumed in their natural form:

20 or 21 minerals
13 vitamins
8 amino acids (10 for children, 11 for premature infants)
2 essential fatty acids

Eat live food in its natural form

Live food
Fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts, and seeds in their natural form are the most likely to be food.

Natural form
If it comes out of a can, box, or bag, and not straight out of the ground, you create doubt. If your health is in crisis, try to avoid doubt. Fresh is best, frozen is second best. Buy most of your food from the outside isles of the supermarket or health food store where fresh organic produce is sold.

Do not destroy the food before you eat it

Avoid using microwave ovens
Recent research shows that microwave oven-cooked food suffers severe molecular damage. When eaten, it causes abnormal changes in human blood and immune systems.

Cooking destroys enzymes
Enzymes are needed for digesting the food; your body can make them, but it takes energy. Light steaming of vegetables is preferred if you don't eat them raw.

Heat damages oils which are toxic
Frying of food is not recommended for good health, but if you must cook with oil, use olive or coconut oil; these oils are least likely to be damaged by heating.

Don't cook in aluminum cookware
Aluminum may set the stage for Alzheimer's or other diseases. Use glass, ceramic, or stainless steel cookware.

Avoid Teflon
Studies found that fumes from heated Teflon made people sick. One man linked frequent urination to his Teflon pans. Note that this may not apply to other types of non-stick surfaces.

Observe proper food combining

Avoid gas
Combining foods improperly causes complete digestion to take longer, and can allow foods to ferment leading to putrefaction of the colon, and toxins entering the blood stream. Suggestions for fruit
Fruit should not rest long in your stomach, but should always be eaten alone, in between meals, or before meals.

Eat sub-acid fruits (apricots, berries, cherimoya, cherries, fresh figs, grapes, mangos, nectarines, papaya, peaches, pears, plums) with either acid fruits (all citrus, kumquats, pineapple, pomegranates, strawberries) or sweet fruits (bananas, dates, dried fruit, persimmons, prunes, raisins, sapote. Some apples are sweet and some can be sub-acid). But never eat acid fruits with sweet fruits together.

Always eat melons alone.

Suggestions for vegetables, proteins, and carbohydrates

Eat vegetables with carbohydrates or with proteins, but never mix proteins with carbohydrates (no meat and potatoes).

Let Your Food Digest

Drink your food, eat your drink

We can only assimilate food that is almost liquefied. Chewing is the first stage in the digestion process. Chew each bite at least 30 times.

Avoid drinks with meals

Drinks dilute the digestive juices. Drink 20 minutes before a meal; wait 1 hour after a meal before drinking. (Many writers suggest waiting 2-1/2 hours after, but then there is a tendency to dehydrate). You can sip hot tea with a meal.

Avoid cold drinks with meals

Cold drinks turn off the digestive process, and incomplete digestion creates toxins. If you must drink, warm is best; room temperature next best. No ice water.

Eat a blood type diet or metabolic type diet

One diet does not fit all.

The China Study was based upon very large populations, but it did not consider individual differences.

You can eat the best food, take the best supplements, drink plenty of water, get lots of exercise and rest, cleanse your systems, and still feel lousy if the food you are eating is not right for your metabolic type. One diet does not fit all.

Here are two approaches:

* Follow a blood type diet as described in Eat Right For Your Type by  Peter D'Adamo; read the book reviews. Several of my friends told me they felt a lot better by following this book.

* Follow The Metabolic Typing Diet by Wolcott. By answering a questionnaire, your score will tell you whether you should be eating a high-carb low-protein, low-carb high-protein, or mixed diet, and also provides food lists. If you follow the advice of The China Study, your protein will be plant-based.

To be sure you are getting all your amino acids, take Braggs Liquid Aminos, available from any health food store. It tastes good, a lot like tamari (or soy sauce), and can replace salt.

Your diet should consist of 80% alkaline reacting, and 20% acid reacting foods. Probably more than anything else, acid-alkaline balance is the best determinant of your health and how you feel. Over-acidification of the body is one of the underlying causes of all disease. Your level of acidity can be measured at home, and corrected with diet (see Prevention and Cause of Cancer). Be sure to include live food with each meal.

The Food Guide Pyramid Was Corrupted!


 

This is the UDSA Food Guide Pyramid

 

The designer of the food guide pyramid, Luise Light, says it was corrupted. Read about it here.  Following it may cause you disease. A study reported here, gave a formula for predicting cancer risk.  The formula, delivered to the Paris Medical Society in 1843, could accurately calculate cancer rates in major European cities.  The more grain consumed, the greater the rate of cancer.

Fruits and vegetables should be on the bottom, not grains.

The proper proportions should be:

TOP:  Baked goods, crackers, sweets, sugars, fats, low nutrient foods (use sparingly)
MIDDLE:
  Cereals and grains: 2-4 servings (less for females and those with less active lifestyles)
BASE:
  Fruits and vegetables: 5-9 servings
(The article made no mention of the Milk or Meat groups; but then, The China Study recommends you drop these from your diet)

A minimum of fifty percent of your diet should be vegetables. The ratio of raw to cooked should range from 50:50 to 70:30 (70% raw, 30% lightly cooked). Raw vegetables give you the enzymes you need, but an entirely raw diet may be inadvisable since there are some tough fibrous walls that need to be broken down to get to the nutrition, and this can put a strain on your digestive system. Include green, leafy vegetables.  If you haven't eaten much raw food before, start out gradually to let your system adjust, and chew it well. See what works for you.

About 10% of your diet should be fruit; 20% should be grains.

Eat superfoods

Superfoods generally come in powdered form. Digestion of real food takes energy by the body. A superfood is a concentrated source of nutrients that is easy to digest, and also provides complete nutrition, providing what might be missing from your diet. If you can't get your 5-10 daily servings of vegetables, a superfood will provide enzymes, minerals, antioxidants, etc. in concentrated form. It makes up for mistakes, and provides trace supplements.

Why not just take vitamin and mineral supplements? Whole foods contain hundreds and possibly thousands of yet to be discovered nutrients that cannot be isolated. Many of these nutrients provide amazing health benefits. With foods and food concentrates containing whole nutritional complexes, the body can choose what it needs and excrete what it doesn't. But with isolated and/or synthetic vitamins, there is no choice, the body must handle the chemical in some manner and can suffer consequences of bio-chemical imbalances and toxic overdose. Vitamins and minerals are devoid of living nutrients such as enzymes.

Take Mineral supplements
Our bodies need about 70 different minerals, most of them in trace quantities. A deficiency of any mineral will give rise to disease. For example, according to Dr. Joel Wallach, calcium deficiency is responsible for over 140 different diseases. In his book Rare Earths Forbidden Cures, Dr. Wallach graphically shows the results of mineral deficiencies. The soil that food is grown in is depleted of minerals; fertilizer provides what the plant needs to grow (nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus), but not what humans need to stay healthy. You need to supplement, but typical mineral supplements may be hard to digest. Plant-derived minerals have been processed by plants and are better for human consumption than plain minerals. Liquid colloidal minerals are much more absorbable than dry minerals.

Foods to Avoid

Avoid genetically altered food.
Safety first. Scientists do not have the divine intelligence necessary to modify the genes of your food without creating some kind of problem somewhere. Today, this means eating organic food because the organic label does not allow genetic alteration. It is estimated that 70% of food on the markets shelves contain a genetically modified ingredient; labeling is not required so you just don't know. Better to avoid eating what might be poison than to try to find a cure for it later. GMO causes sterility, which shows that it is not food at all. Click here for more information.

Avoid pasteurized milk and milk products
The China Study associated milk consumption with increased multiple sclerosis, Type 1 diabetes, and hip fractures due to osteoporosis. Doesn't milk build strong bones? Apparently not. However, there may be limitations to the China Study which presumably measured the results of pasteurized milk. Raw milk appears to be good. Be sure the cows consume organic feed. See here. The government says that raw milk is safe.

Avoid vaccinations
Vaccinations were associated with Type 1 diabetes; read about it at Hidden-Diabetes-Cures.com. And vaccinations are linked to the huge increase in autism; do an online search for vaccinations autism.

Avoid Aspartame
Also know as NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, Equal-Measure, NatraTaste, Canderel, and Benevia, it has been associated with 92 symptoms including MIGRAINES, MEMORY LOSS, SEIZURES, OBESITY, PAIN, INFERTILITY, ... a list too long to summarize. Read the book The Crazy Makers: How the Food Industry is Destroying our Brains and Harming Our Children by Carol Simontacchi.

Avoid Splenda (Sucralose)
Another sweetener, this does not occur in nature and your body does not know how to handle it. You are asking for trouble if you use it. For more, see here.

The following are suggested sugar substitutes

The Ultimate Sweetener
Derived from birch bark, The Ultimate Sweetener is 100% pure birch sugar (also known as Xylitol).  It is perfect for baking, dissolves quickly, looks and tastes like sugar but has no aftertaste or side effects.  It has half the calories of sugar and does not promote tooth decay.  Metabolized very slowly, it helps prevent sugar highs and lows experienced by people with diabetes, hypoglycemia, candida, or any condition caused by sugar imbalance.

Stevia
Stevia is a sweet herb that is 50 - 100 times sweeter than sugar.  It is calorie free, with a slight licorice aftertaste.  It does not help baked goods rise.  It is ideal for candida.

Avoid canola oil
Said to be toxic to living things. It has been shown to cause lung cancer. Some possible side effects include loss of vision, disruption of the central nervous system, respiratory illness, anemia, constipation, increased incidence of heart disease and cancer, and low birth weights in infants and irritability. It has a tendency to inhibit proper metabolism of foods and prohibits normal enzyme function. It has a cumulative effect, taking almost 10 years before symptoms begin to manifest. Avoid hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil
The process of hydrogenation destroys the essential fatty acids in the oil, and replaces them with unnatural trans-fatty acids that the body is ill equipped to deal with. That means no margarine or mayonnaise. Avoid heating of oils, which causes oxidation and free radicals. Read the book Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill: The Complete Guide to Fats, Oils, Cholesterol and Human Health by Udo Erasmus. Diabetes is caused by the consumption of toxic engineered fats and oils, and is cured (and avoided) by consuming the natural versions. Avoid monosodium glutamate
MSG, also known as glutamic acid, glutamate, hydrolyzed protein, sodium caseinate, autolyzed yeast, yeast nutrient, yeast food, natural flavoring, and a host of other ingredients, has been associated with 45 symptoms. Deceptive labeling is a problem.

Avoid soy products including tofu
More controversy here. Soy contains clot-promoting substances, trypsin inhibitors that cause pathological conditions and cancer of the pancreas, and estrogens that can block the thyroid hormones. The symptoms can mimic a number of disorders including psychiatric disorders and physiological or organic brain disorders such as Alzheimer's. Other symptoms can manifest as memory loss, confusion, slowness, horrific depression that sometimes does not respond to conventional prescription drugs, paranoia, hallucinations, fatigue, loss of hair, menopausal difficulties, digestive disturbances, reproductive disturbances, and brittle bones.  If you must eat soy, I would suggest occasional use.

How do you know if a food is good for you?

Take a sample of the food or supplement to your local chiropractor or naturopath, and do muscle strength testing.  This technique called kinesiology is well known among naturopaths and chiropractors. Typically, you hold your arm out, and the doctor pushes down against it to see how strong you are with and without the supplement in your other hand. A bad food for you will cause weakening.

Water
Amazingly, many conditions including dyspeptic pain, stress and depression, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, over weight, chronic fatigue, arthritis, asthma and allergies, insulin independent diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, Alzheimer's, and many other issues are improved by increased intake of water. The best part is it costs you almost nothing. In his book, Your Body's many cries for water, Doctor Batmanghelidj tells the story of his work as a doctor while he was confined to Tehran prison, astonished to find that water was effecting full cures of diverse and difficult diseases such as asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure and ulcers. EFA's
Essential fatty acids are necessary for good health, yet they are removed from our food by processing in order to increase shelf life. Many diseases arose at the beginning of the 20th century when food processing became prevalent, and oils were removed from food. If you don't get your EFA's (and for that matter, your minerals), you will experience food cravings and diseases. Dr. Joel Wallach suggests taking 9 capsules of 1000 mg per day of flax seed oil as a good source of EFA's.

This page suggests that a high-fat diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids can suppress breast cancer.  Studies showed that corn oil induced mammary tumors.  Avoid products high in Omega-6, especially corn oil.

The book The Omega Diet: The Lifesaving Nutritional Program Based on the Diet of the Island of Crete by Dr. Artemis P. Simopoulos, will forever change the way you look at fats. It debunks the theory that all fats are bad, and proves that eating a balanced diet of the right fats is the key to good health, longevity, and weight loss.

ALL your oils (except olive, coconut, and ghee) should be purchased from the refrigerated section of your local health food store, and not by mail because EFAs are so fragile. See Hidden-Diabetes-Cures.com/fats-and-oils.htm for specific recommendations.

Salt

The China Study suggested minimizing the consumption of salt, however there is evidence that there is a difference between regular table salt and natural sea salt. I don't know what type of salt was measured in The China Study (which included other studies beyond China), but no doubt in America we consume the regular version on supermarket shelves, and if it is toxic then you would expect reduced consumption to result in improved health.

Sea salt is claimed to reduce high blood pressure. It has therapeutic properties, and was used in ancient times to treat major mental and physical diseases and severe burns. Salt is an essential to life, and at one time people were paid with salt, hence the term salary. Farmers keep their livestock healthy by given them salt blocks to lick freely. Seawater will restore electrolytic imbalances that cause immune system problems, allergies, cramps, and other health problems. During World War II, navy doctors used sea saltwater when blood for transfusions was not available, and saved many lives.

The following websites argue that salt obtainable from supermarket shelves is toxic, while sea salt which also contains other minerals, is essential to health. See curezone.com, proliberty.com, and relfe.com. They explain that table salt is toxic because refiners add desiccants such as aluminosilicate of sodium, plus different bleaches to the salt. After these processes the salt will no longer combine with body fluids, giving rise to serious problems.

When you buy sea salt, be sure it is sun dried and not kiln dried, and there are no additives. Two of the best appear to be himalayan sea salt, and Celtic (brand) Sea Salt.

Proponents of Celtic Sea Salt claim that salt should be light gray in color, and due to moisture darkens slightly at the base of the container. It is moist to the touch, even when kept in cool storage for a long time. And it is formed of very small crystals that are cubic in shape. It should not be allowed to dry out, the wet parts should be mixed with the dry, and it should not be ground until use because beneficial gasses are released. The salt should be activated before use by applying to your food to liquefy it, or dissolving in water. Dry salt will enter the body in a non-ionized form which can't be as easily assimilated, and can create thirst (a sign of toxicity).

The Gerson Institute recommends that its cancer patients avoid salt; we don't know if they are aware of the difference between table salt and sea salt.
